Drug Ring Players In Detroit U.S. District Court

Two men from California and a third from Mexico are scheduled to go on trial today in Detroit Federal Court.

They are accused of being part of a cross-country drug ring that has helped fuel the nation’s opioid epidemic.

A video game led to their downfall.
The three men were arrested during a raid of a condo in Novi in July of last year.

That raid was sparked by an arrest a month earlier in a drug deal in the parking lot of a Wal Mart store in Novi.

600 grams of heroin was seized.

The heroin was found inside of an a Playstation box.

It was then learned that the Playstation had been sold at the same Wal Mart nine days previously.

That Playstation was then tracked through internet use to the condo in Novi.

The subsequent raid on that residence led to the discovery of 88 pounds of heroin with a street value of 4 million dollars.
