Ripple Effect From GM Canada Plant Strike

Cutbacks are coming at some GM plants, as a result of a strike in Canada.

GM has begun production cuts due to a strike at the plant in Ingersoll, Ontario, where the Chevy Equinox is built. The Equinox is one of GM’s biggest-selling vehicles.
Powertrain plants in Flint, Tennessee, and St. Catherine’s, Ontario, are affected. Varying shift layoffs are being made in Flint, according to UAW Local 659. Local union officials say they stand behind the Unifor union in Canada, to get what they call a fair and equitable contract. 2,500 employees at Ingersoll went on strike Sept. 17.
