The next phase of work on the sewer sinkhole in Fraser is underway.
Crews will dig a giant hole 60 feet deep so they can make the permanent repair on the collapsed sewer line. They recently installed 260 piers made of concrete and steel beams which will act as the walls to protect the workers who will go down to the 11-foot break. A replacement pipe is coming in. 37-hundred feet of sewer pipe east of the break will be cleaned and reinforced. That segment of pipe was discovered to be in danger of collapse.
The replacement pipe is expected to be delivered in early July. Work is scheduled to be done in the fall. 15 Mile Road will be reconstructed by late November.
