One of the three men involved in a smash and grab robbery at a jewelry store in Novi is in police custody. A 26 year old Detroit man turned himself in to Detroit Police overnight. But when Novi Police tried to take him into custody the handcuffs were taken off and he tried to run. Officers caught up to him but he assaulted one of the officer. He kicked out the back windows of the police car as Novi officers put him in custody.
Police say several men smashed a counter at Tapper’s Jewelry in the 12 Oaks Mall on Saturday and escaped with an undisclosed number of items.
Police say the men may be part of a larger robbery ring in the Detroit area.
