Detroit’s Spain Elementary Middle School receives $500,000 in donations from Ellen Degeneres

On Wednesday, students and staff at Detroit’s Spain Elementary Middle School received gifts from TV show host Ellen Degeneres. It was the largest donation in the show’s history. Degeneres called the school from her show’s LA studio with $500,000 in donations. She teamed up with Lowe’s and wrote a check for $250,000 to pay for school improvements, $50,000 toward technology, $200,000 toward services, and the students and staff received gift cards. Pop superstar Justin Bieber also joined in the fun as he promised $1 for every concert ticket sold on his tour would benefit the school.
