Governor Rick Snyder unveils his 2016-2017 state budget proposal today. He previously said his plan would include $30-million in state funding to help pay the water bills of Flint residents: however, the state legislature beat him to the punch. Last Thursday, lawmakers unanimously approved $30-million in new general fund state spending to reimburse Flint residents for the lead-contaminated water they have had to deal with. So Snyder will propose an additional $195-million for water, food and nutrition, physical, social, educational well being for children, and credits for water and sewer bills. Snyder will meet with key state lawmakers then make his presentation in Lansing.
