A federal judge has indicated that Dr. Farid Fata could be sentenced to at least 30 years. Judge Paul Borman ruled that he would consider 30 years to life, saying Fata abused the trust of patients and was the head man in a conspiracy to defraud Blue Cross and Medicare out of tens of millions of dollars. Prosecutors say he fraudulently billed insurance companies $34 million. It has been a four day process with testimony from experts and several of those who suffered as a result of his actions. Sentencing is expected at 10 o’clock Friday morning.
