DETROIT, MI — Greektown, named for the Greek immigrants whose whose culture permeates the section of downtown Detroit, is often visited by tourists and considered one of the safest areas in the city. That wasn’t the case last weekend.
A 19-year-old woman suffered multiple gunshots while at the corner of Monroe and Beaubien streets Saturday night, and a 19-year-old man died in a fatal shooting that occurred in a nearby alley Sunday.
Detroit police on Wednesday released surveillance footage of two men believed to be connected with Saturday’s nonfatal shooting. They are captured in the footage seeming to congratulate one another with a high five at the end of the short clip. MORE
