Dozens of Birmingham residents are angry over a potential plan to reduce the lanes of Maple Road between Southfield and Cranbrook road from four to three. A six month pilot test is in the works for the 1.3 mile stretch of road, making four narrow lanes in to three wider lanes. One lane each east and west and one turn lane. Officials say it will reduce accidents, improve pedestrian safety and lower speeds. The Birmingham City Commission will vote on the plan at a meeting scheduled for 7:30 Monday night, but not before they hear from residents who are not happy with the plan.
