Bands could play for Queen, but need cash first
Two high school marching bands got official invitations Monday from a representative of the Queen of England to perform in the country's 2011 New Year's Day parade. Band members from Clarkston High School and Catholic Central High School in Novi would be among more than 10,000 performers worldwide to perform in the parade. Now comes the hard part: raising the $2,800 per student likely needed. To donate, call Mike Lewis, band director for the Clarkston High band, at 248-623-3518 or Catholic Central at 248-596-3810.
