Henry Ford Mills To Be Developed

Two historic mills once operated by Henry Ford in the first half of the 20th century are one step closer to being sold to private developers.

The Wayne County Board of Commissioners is poised to approve it.

The sale was approved by a commission committee last week.

The two mills in question are the Wilcox Mill in Plymouth and the Newburgh Mill in Livonia.

Wayne County began looking at selling some of the old mills in Hines Park about a year ago because of a lack of funds to maintain them.

Critics of the move pointed to the fact that voters have continued to approve park millages throughout the years.

They want the parkland preserved and not in the hands of private ownership.
