DPD Sgt. Suspended; Funeral Set For Fallen Cop

Detroit Police Chief Craig suspended a sergeant for not rushing to the scene of a fatal shooting that killed Corporal Rasheen McClain.

Craig says McClain requested a supervisor to go to the scene at a house where a crazed gunman was inside, but the sergeant stayed in his car a block away. Craig says the sergeant said he was waiting to see if the gunman ran away, when he heard the calls of an officer down.
Public viewings are set for Officer McClain on December 4th and 5th at Fisher Funeral Home and Cremation in Redford Township, followed by a Dec. 6 funeral at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.

McClain and officer Phillippe Batoum-Bisse were shot last Wednesday in NW Detroit.

A 28 year old man is in custody and may be connected to several earlier shootings and at least one murder.
