2 Monroe Cops Shot

Two Monroe police officers were shot and wounded in a shootout with a tenant at an apartment complex.

Monroe police Chief Charles McCormick says a worker who was doing work at the Washington Arms apartment complex was approached by a tenant who had a gun in a holster. McCormick said they got into a fight.

Monroe police say the tenant pulled out a gun.

The Monroe police officers were shot in their legs.

Officers returned fire and the tenant was struck more than once.

The officers were taken to a nearby hospital. One has been treated and released, and the other will be released, McCormick said.

Officials took the shooter to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. Police did not reveal his condition.
