It’s back to court again today for former Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger.
Spranger lost her clerk’s job in March of last year after a judge had ruled she lied about her residency in her election filings.
She had been elected in 2016 and quickly became involved in numerous fights with city officials and staffers.
Now, she is facing charges she stole money from a 78 year old year old woman that she had been caring for.
Prosecutors say Spranger illegally withdrew money from the woman’s bank account on eight separate occasions in January.
She had been caught on a bank surveillance video getting the money from an ATM machine.
