Ex-Rep To Be Sentenced In Scandal

Former state Representative Todd Courser is to be sentenced today on his no contest plea to a charge of willful neglect of duty.

Courser made news when he left office in 2015 in the midst of a sex scandal that involved an extra-marital affair he was having with another former state
representative, Cindy Gamrat.

After rumors of the affair had surfaced, Courser had a state employee send out a fake e-mail saying that he was a homosexual in an effort to discredit the rumors of the affair.

When the scheme became public, the House of representatives moved to remove both from office.

Courser resigned before a vote could be taken.

Gamrat was removed from office on a 91-12 vote.

Courser was eventually charged with several felonies.

After 3 years of legal wrangling, he agreed to plead no contest to a misdemeanor neglect of duty charge.

The state attorney general’s office then agreed to dismiss the felonies.
