Potato Chip Shooting Case In Court

A preliminary exam is scheduled for today for a Detroit gas station clerk who shot and wounded a man for stealing some potato chips.

27 year old Safaa Marzok has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder.

Investigators say he was working at the Shell station on West warren at about 10:30 the evening of July 23rd.

He got into a verbal argument with 22 year old Tavarlis Durham and another man.

Police say Marzok then grabbed a gun when he saw Durham hold open the door for another man who had grabbed several bags of potato chips and was walking out the door without paying.

Marzok is accused of firing a shot through the door, hitting Durham, who was then taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
