2 members of the county board of commissioners interviewed several applicants for the job of county executive.
The full board meets Friday. The board may appoint a new executive to fill the remainder of the term.
Former board chairman David Woodward, who said he was running for county executive, withdrew his name from consideration for the appointment. Woodward and others on the board ran into criticism for angling for the post so soon after L. Brooks Patterson’s death. Patterson served as county executive since 1993. Patterson is to be buried today. He died August 3 of cancer of the pancreas.
