Priest Due In Court Today

Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel says her office is committed to investigating clergy abuse charges.

To date, six catholic priests have been charged with criminal sexual conduct.

The latest facing charges is the Reverend Joseph ‘Jack’ Baker.
He was arrested earlier this month and arraigned on one charge of 1st degree criminal sexual conduct with a person under the age of 13.

Baker had been the pastor at Saint Perpetua in Waterford since 2008.

Prior to that, he had served at the Saint Mary parish in Wayne, at Sacred Heart in Dearborn and at Saint Hugo of the Hills in Bloomfield Hills.

He’s due in court today for a preliminary exam.

Nessel says more charges can be expected as her special unit to investigate clergy abuse is working day and night to review hundreds of thousands of page of documents seized from all seven of Michigan’s dioceses last fall.
