UM Prez Has Court Date On Student Lawsuit

University of Michigan President Mark Schlissel is under the orders of a Detroit Federal Court Judge to appear in the judge’s courtroom today to discuss a sexual misconduct case against
a student. The order from Judge Arthur Tarnow involves an unidentified U of M student who sued the university in June of last year.

He had been near graduating and had been accepted into the university graduate school of engineering when he was accused of raping another student in 2017.

The school then froze his transcripts before an investigation was completed.

A Federal Appeals Court ruled last year that the university must hold hearings where both sides can question each other in sexual misconduct hearings.

No such hearing was held in this case.
