The ongoing preliminary exam of Former Michigan State University president Lou Anna Simon is scheduled to resume today in Eaton County District Court.
Simon has been accused by the Michigan Attorney General’s office of lying to police about when she had first learned about the sexual assault complaints against former MSU sports Doctor Larry Nassar.
The prosecutors case hinges on evidence they say proves that Paulette Granberry-Russell, a senior advisor to the president, told Simon of a complaint against Nassar back in 2014.
However, Russell has testified that she doesn’t remember if she doesn’t remember if she ever mentioned Nassar’s name.
Simon has maintained she didn’t learn about Nassar until the Indianapolis Star broke the story about his conduct in 2016.
Her preliminary exam got underway in February and is close to wrapping up.
