High Court Sends Notices On Flint Water Lawsuits

The Michigan Supreme Court will hear arguments on whether a class-action lawsuit can go ahead against former Gov. Snyder and the state of Michigan over the Flint water emergency.
The court did not schedule a date for hearings.
The court told the Flint residents who are plaintiffs that they should prepare arguments whether they have a constitutional claim that they were harmed and whether they filed their lawsuit in a timely manner.
The state has argued that emergency managers appointed by the governor to run Flint were not considered state officials, and that the lawsuit was filed too late to meet the requirement of 6 months notice for the Michigan Court of Claims.
The state Court of Appeals ruled last year the lawsuit could proceed.
