How To Avoid PFAS

The state health department warns those who visit the lakes and rivers this summer to avoid foam that may develop where P-FAS chemicals exist.
Several lakes and rivers have higher levels of the chemicals, that can leave a foam on top of the water.
Health department toxicologist Deb McKenzie-Taylor says the foam is the biggest concern. Taylor says people can go into the water. That’s not dangerous. Ingesting water with P-FAS, like swallowing it, is how you would get P-FAS into your body.
