Teachers Threaten Protest, Calendar Changed

THE NEW SCHOOL CALENDAR FOR DETROIT SCHOOL TEACHERS HAS BEEN SCRAPPED AFTER TEACHER PUSH BACK. SUPERINTENDENT NICHOLAI VITTI SAID THE UPCOMING CALENDAR WILL BE THE SAME AS THE CURRENT 2018-19 CALENDAR WITH THE SAME FIVE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS, A FULL WINTER BREAK AND NO RECOGNITION OF A MUSLIM HOLIDAY. VITTI SAYS HE PLANS TO ANNOUNCE THE CHANGE TONIGHT AT THE FULL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL BOARD AT RENAISSANCE HIGH SCHOOL. THE SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR HAD BEEN CHANGED TO NOT INCLUDE THE PAID BREAKS.
