Social Post Gets Another Cop Fired

It was a costly chat.
A second Detroit police officer has been fired for a “racially insensitive” video that was posted to Snapchat.

Chief Craig announced Officer Michael Garrison — the partner of Officer Gary Steele, who posted the Snapchat — has also been fired. Steele was fired last month.

Steele posted on Snapchat after having a woman’s car towed because of expired registration. Body camera video shows the woman was offered a ride home, but she walked a block in the cold.

The Snapchat captions included the phrase “black girl magic,” and referenced Black History Month.
Chief Craig charges the officers were part of the reason for racial problems in the 6th Police Precinct.
