There’s been plenty of finger pointing in a case involving two downriver men and a woman who have been charged with several counts of animal abuse.
The 3 are in court today for a preliminary exam.
Charged in the case are a River Rouge couple, 42 year old Scott McMurtrie and 29 year old Kaylin Sparks and 30 year old David Bowling of Ecorse.
Police had gone to a home in Ecorse last May and found 17 emaciated dogs in the back of a rental truck in filthy cages and extreme heat.
The dogs were taken to an animal shelter for care and treatment.
The dogs had allegedly been brought to Michigan from Louisiana.
A reality show celebrity in Louisiana, Tia Torres, whose show deals with dog rescues, had previously worked with the River Rouge couple and set them up in New Orleans.
But she said they turned into monsters and had to be evicted from their location.
A lawyer for the couple said the charges against them are trumped up by Torres, who he called an out-of-control TV personality.
