An embattled Livingston County Judge was due in court today for a probable cause hearing on charges of perjury and two other felonies.
Allegations against Judge Theresa Brennan came to light in her divorce case in 2017.
There were reports she had failed to disclose a personal relationship she had with the lead detective in a murder case she was hearing.
It resulted in her being charged with lying about the relationship, destroying evidence, and misconduct in office.
She is also the subject of a Judicial Tenure Commission investigation involving allegations of misconduct in office … that she used her office for personal gain, and allowed social and other relationships to influence her conduct..
Those allegations could lead to her being removed from the bench.
The perjury charges could send her to prison for up to 15 years.
