Pain Doctor Asks For Bond

The alleged leader of what is being called one of the nation’s largest health insurance fraud schemes will be in Detroit Federal Court today as his attorneys tries to get him freed on bond.
Prosecutors say 77 year old Bloomfield Hills Doctor Rajendra Bothra and five other doctors joined forces in cheating Medicare, Medicaid and Blue Cross-Blue Shield during a  464-million dollar scheme that was in operation from 2013 until last month.

They add that patients were forced to undergo painful medical procedures in exchange for receiving more than 13-million does of prescription pain medicine.

All of the other doctors have been released on a 100-thousand dollar bond.

But prosecutors say they want Bothra to remain behind bars … that he has a net worth of millions of dollars, and is a flight
risk.
