Ford, VW Talk Partnership

Volkswagen’s CEO says the German automaker was building an alliance with Ford Motor Co. and that they might use Ford plants to build cars.
Bill Ford, executive chairman of Ford, says the talks were going “ well” and that “the culture fit is good.”

The automakers have said previously they are talking about collaborations.
The comments came after a meeting at the White House.

Herbert Diess said VW would not take an equity stake in Ford. But he said the alliance with Ford would strengthen Ford’s position in Europe because they will share platforms.
This may allow Ford to make future job cutbacks in Europe.
