L-Brooks Says He’s Staying Put

Will L-Brooks Patterson step aside as Oakland County executive, now that Democrats have a majority on the county board of commissioners? The local political icon has given an answer.

No.

Democrats will hold a majority on the Oakland County board for the first time in more than 40 years following last week’s elections. They’ll have an 11 to 10 majority. Speculation has continued that longtime executive Brooks Patterson might step down in the middle of his term.
Patterson is 79 and in a wheelchair since a serious car accident several years ago.
Patterson says he has no intention of stepping aside. Patterson blames republican losses in Oakland County to a blue tide coming in from Detroit.

He was on the Frank Beckmann show.
If Patterson were to step down the board would replace him with a Democrat. That won’t happen, but it won’t be business as usual, as Patterson will have to work with Democratic commissioners who can’t wait to flex their new muscles.
