Candidate For Judge Faces A Judge

She’s on the Michigan’s November ballot as a judicial candidate in Oakland County.

Today, she’s due in court in connection with a drunken driving incident.
49 year old attorney Julie McDonald is making her first bid for an elective office and is running unopposed for a 6-year seat on the Oakland County Circuit Court bench.

She was stopped while driving just before 11 in the morning on September 8th on Woodward near 11 mile.

Police say she failed a sobriety test and was arrested.

The Michigan Sectary of state’s Office says McDonald would not be ineligible for election, even if is convicted or pleads guilty to the charge.

However, if elected, she would likely face a 90-day suspension by the State Judicial Tenure Commission soon after she’s sworn in next January

This would be in addition to any penalty imposed by the state Attorney Discipline Board, which usually intervenes whenever a member of the Michigan bar is convicted of a criminal offense.
