New Soo Lock Money Passed

Michigan may get a new lock at the Soo Locks.
The U.S. Senate approves $922 million to build a large lock at the Upper Peninsula’s Soo Locks.
The other main lock, the Poe Lock, is 65 years old.

The bill passed the House last month and now heads to President Trump. It’s a funding authorization bill that contains other projects. It’s up to the President.
A new larger lock would be built next to the present one, which the U-S Army Corps of Engineers says is expensive to maintain.
