Will Deaf Man Be Sent Back To Nigeria

A severely handicapped Detroit man is hoping to avoid being deported to Nigeria.
48 year old Francis Anwana is scheduled to meet with ICE agents today.

Anwana was born in Nigeria and was 14 when he came to the United States on a student visa.

He was deaf, couldn’t talk and had cognitive disabilities when he enrolled at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint.

He moved from Flint to an adult foster care facility in Detroit in January and helps mow the lawns and mop the floors at a nearby church on the west aide.

His supporters say his visa was not renewed several years ago because he had often moved from one group home to another and caretakers had lost track of his case.

His case is being reviewed.
