The Michigan Attorney General is investigating allegations of sexual abuse by Catholic priests in Michigan going back to the 1950’s.

The investigation started last month.
Attorney General Bill Schuette’s office is investigating any claims of abuse in all 7 Catholic diocese in Michigan.
A statement by the office says any victims of sexual abuse, their families, and others are encouraged to report any abuse or cover up.
The Archdiocese of Detroit says it welcomes the investigation as the next phase of transparency and healing.
The archdiocese says it has worked with prosecutors to review old cases and turn over any new allegations.

Sexual abuse claims have cost the church in Michigan millions of dollars in settlements and counseling.
