Shootings Of Detroit Girl, Man Connected

A 46-year-old man was shot and killed by police this morning when officers were executing a search warrant at a home in the 9200 block of Evergreen Road in Detroit. This was in the search for the shooter of a 5 year old girl and the girl’s mother.

Family members of a 5-year-old girl who was killed in the shooting said the home on Evergreen is that of the girl’s father.
Police went to the home and a 46-year-old man was on the couch when officers entered the home. The man was armed with a pistol, police said, and raised the gun.

An officer fired at the man, killing him.

A man who is the brother of the man who was shot says the man is not the father of the dead girl.
Police are sorting thru the information. Police say earlier,
someone entered  a home nearby  while the woman and her 5-year-old daughter were sleeping in bed. Shots were fired and the woman and the girl were struck. The mother is in critical condition.
A black male left the house. Police said there was no sign of forced entry.
