Old Friends Fight, Now One Goes To Jail

They had known each other for about 20 years, one often doing odd jobs for the other.

But their friendship ended in a fight over some missing money.

Roy Abrams is to be sentenced today in the severe beating and stabbing of 53 year old Joe Kendra of Brownstown Township.

Kendra said he did Abrams a favor in early February, charging only 20 dollars to fix an electrical outlet in his Detroit home.

But Abrams accused Kendra of stealing 15-hundred dollars that had been on a dining room table.

Kendra denied taking the money.

The only other person in the house was Abrams girlfriend.

Kendra said she probably took the money.

A fight ensued and Kendra was locked in the home and beaten with a crowbar and stabbed repeatedly before he was taken from the home and thrown into a pile of garbage behind a restaurant on Michigan Avenue.

A passerby called 9-1-1.

Abrams was arrested and convicted of assault
