Expect Jones To Go To Congress Temporarily

Some confusion on the 13th congressional district election could be cleared up. Voters will send Democrat Rashida Tlaib to Congress in January.
In the second ballot issue in that district on Tuesday, voters elected Detroit council president Brenda Jones to finish out the term of John Conyers, who resigned.
City lawyers were researching whether Jones can keep her council job and go to Congress for several weeks or whether she has to resign from the council. The head of the congressional Democrats committee, Jonathon Kinroch, tells WJR’s Frank Beckmann show they know of no rule that would keep Jones from doing both, for 6 weeks.
