Child Care Shootings Bring Sentence

A Dearborn man whose home day care center was the scene of a shooting in which two young children were wounded is to be sentenced today.
33 year old Timothy Banks pled guilty to 6 counts of 2nd degree child abuse.

He and his 32 year old wife Samantha ran an unlicensed day care center.

She is scheduled to go on trial next Monday.

On September 27th of last year, there were six children in the home.

One of her 3 year old sons had gone upstairs and found his fathers 2 handguns.

A gun discharged, hitting a 3 year old boy in the face and another 3 year old in the shoulder.

Prosecutors say the husband left the two unsecured guns in the home, knowing they posed a danger to the children in the home.

He could be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison.
