Ford Takes Wraps Off Train Station Project

They built the Ren Cen. Now Detroit’s renaissance goes the preservation route.

The Ford Motor Company is about to make its presence known in the Motor City… with a much bigger footprint.

Today, Ford executive chairman Bill Ford will outline the company’s plans for 18-story vacant train station building and the adjacent book depository.

Officials have indicated the 500-thousand square foot facility would be used as the automakers new Corktown campus.

The building has been empty for 30 years.

The depot has long stood as one of the largest symbols of Detroit’s fall from its glory days.

Ford’s announcement today is being called a celebration and is open to the public.
