Judge Explains Controversial Sentence

Why did the getaway driver for two murder suspects get probation?
Many are asking that question after the sentencing of probation to Leviticus Butler, who helped two women escape after the killing of a 69 year old store manager during a robbery last November in Detroit.
Wayne County judge Gregory Bill says he followed the court guidelines in giving Butler 2 and a half years probation. Bill says Butler has cooperated with police and the prosecutor.

Judge Bill says the justice system cannot afford to pay for everyone that it wants to put in jail.
The widow of the murder victim told the judge in court that the getaway driver was supposed to call the police after a murder, instead of helping the killers escape.

The two women are set to go to trial.
