Salvation Army robberies costing tens of thousands of dollars

Salvation Army

Police continue to investigate a string of robberies targeting Salvation Army thrift stores in Southeast Michigan. There have been nine robberies since December. Some stores, such as those in Southgate, Lincoln Park, Taylor, and Ann Arbor have been hit multiple times. Officials say the thefts have cost the non-profit agency approximately $33,000. The financial loss directly affects programs aimed at helping adults with substance abuse issues. The Salvation Army plans to install cameras and employ security guards.
