Pit bulls owner in court today

A preliminary exam has been scheduled for today for a Detroit man whose pack of pit bulls attacked and killed a four year old boy. 41-year-old Geneke Antonio Lyons has been charged with second degree murder. Xavier Strickland was dragged about 30 feet by one dog to the home where it and other dogs lived and he was mauled to death. The boy’s mother said she was with the boy on Bayliss street at the time and that they had been walking across the street from the home to avoid where the dogs were kept when one dog got free and attacked the boy. Both the mother and father said they want to see Lyons prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Prosecutors say the animals had escaped from the home on other occasions and were a known problem in the neighborhood.
