The federal government repossess Michigan law enforcement vehicles

Michigan law enforcement agencies are returning surplus military equipment to the federal government this month, including tracked armored vehicles that metro Detroit sheriff’s offices have had for more than a decade. The order came from President Obama. The equipment is being repossessed because of criticism of law enforcement that the vehicles looked too military; the action is being taken in the wake of tensions involving police in Ferguson, Missouri and elsewhere.
